Music Matters

Music Matters! is our award-winning in-school music enrichment program for students in Kindergarten through 6th grade. The program features the Illinois Symphony Orchestra's professional musicians visiting classrooms throughout central Illinois in Music Around the World. The musicians demonstrate and perform on their instrument, introduce musical concepts, and talk about life as a professional musician. The ISO aims to visit over 20 schools in Bloomington-Normal, Springfield, and surrounding communities.

The Music Matters! virtual program offers a free, online educational tool that can be used in schools, at home, or anywhere around the world. The online program combines music performance, history, and geography on an interactive map. The video links on the map feature performances by ISO musicians playing music from around the world and discussing the music they are performing.
