Bloomington-Normal Guild
The mission of the Illinois Symphony Guild of Bloomington-Normal is to support the ISO by promoting its activities, raising funds for its benefit and fostering the art of music through educational projects. We invite anyone who is interested to join us - no auditions or musical talent required! Our membership consists of men and women who share an enthusiasm and appreciation of the ISO's contributions to our cultural and educational landscape.
What We Do:
Fundraising Efforts
The Guild hosts a variety of fundraising activities throughout the year including our major Fall Gala featuring dinner, silent and live auctions, and exciting entertainment. Other events include the Celebrity Conductor Contest, Tea & Togs Fashion Show, and Lavender & Lemons: A tour of kitchens and more.
Youth Outreach
Music Matters! is our award-winning classroom presentation for all students in Kindergarten – 6th grade organized by the Guild and taught by ISO musicians.
Itsy Arts Emotions and Melodies program is a collaborative and innovative outreach program provided by the ISO and the Art Station of Illinois State University for pre-schoolers and their caregivers.
Music Scholarships are awarded annually to promising music students in grades 6-12 to help them pay for summer music camps or private lessons.
Pre-concert Dinners
The Guild organizes pre-concert dinners at Second Presbyterian Church for those attending the Illinois Symphony Chamber Orchestra concerts.
Musician Housing
Guild members volunteer to host musicians in their homes during concert weeks.
Social Events
Guild members share a common love of orchestral music and value the ISO’s contribution to our community. We enjoy each other’s company through Guild parties, mah jongg, bridge, and other fun events!
